PTFA Summer Fayre
Congratulations to the PTFA who raised nearly £2000 at the Summer Fayre held on 10 July 2010.
End of Summer Term
Another busy summer term has now ended. Throughout the year we have had many and varied exciting events that have entertained, taught and stimulated the children.
Summer Update

Secondary School Transition
Local secondary schools attended an evening on Secondary Transition on May17th to provide parents with information on secondary options. Look in the Secondary School section in the 'Curriculum' part of this site for copies of the information provided.
World Cup Competition
The School Council is organising a World Cup Football Tournament. Enter your team of five children (any age but only 2 from the school football team in any one team). Entry fee is �1 per person.
School Nursing Service
There will be three school nursing service drop-in clinics over the summer term.
Between 3pm-4pm on 27th May, 17th June and 13th July.

Sport Relief Relay Race
The Sport Relief Relay raised a tremendous £355.63
188 children ran 11 metres in KS1/FS, 134 children ran 21 metres in 3/4
149 children ran 21 metres in 5/6.
All together, the relay course passed a baton around 8011m (8km) with 471 children taking part.
Science Week is nearly here!
Wait until you see what we have planned for Science Week. From spaghetti challenge, nature trails, paper plane making, being nature detectives.......
General Election
Thursday 6th May is the date of the general election. Our school is a designated polling station. Please see 'Recent Letters' section of this website for details.
You can help to reduce the traffic problems on the day by parking at the Danish Invader, walking / cycling / scooting to school.

Healthy Eating Drawing Competition
The school council are running a colouring / drawing competition on the theme of Healthy Eating . Deadline - Thursday 1st April.
Parent Questionnaire
The school would like your views to help set priorities on future school development. Please complete the Parent Questionnaire by Friday 26th March.
Decorate an Egg Competition
Monday 29th March - Wednesday 31st March is the annual Decorate an Egg Competition. Please bring in a hard boiled egg (maybe even a spare!). Decorating material may be brought in from home. Come and view the eggs on Wednesday 31st 3.30-4.00pm.
Views of the Future Competition
Stamford Civic Society's exciting artwork and creative writing competition deadline is Friday 19th March 2010.
Children can also enter a Prize Draw to nominate their favourite Stamford building.

PTFA Hanging Baskets
The PTFA have been working with a local nursery to offer parents fabulous hanging baskets
£7.99 each or 2 for £15.00.

Haiti Earthquake Appeal
Thank you to parents and children who raised (at the last count) £1,062 for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal. The children were told about the Appeal at Assembly on Monday and gave very generously. Tooth fairy money and tuck money adding to this great total.

Wow!
The Christmas Fayre raised a whopping £1,408.
Thank you to everyone who contributed and came along. A huge thank you to the PTFA for putting on another great Christmas fundraising event.
House Shield Competition
CONGRATULATIONS! Francesca Nicholson won the school competition to name the new school houses and design the house shields. See Francesca's great owl designs on the school gallery soon!
Nativity DVD orders
Don't forget to order your nativity DVDs by Monday 14th December. £2.50 each.

Apprentice Teaching Assistant
The school currently has a vacancy for an Apprentice Teaching Assistant (linked to New College, Stamford resulting in NVQ2). 34 hours p.w., term time only. Deadline 4/12/09.

Dangerous Parking
The school has received complaints from the residents of Dickens Drive and other surrounding roads regarding parking. Some parents are not only parking dangerously, on junctions, but also are turning cars around in private driveways and damaging verges and plants.
The police have been notified of the parking problems and will be patrolling the areas to assist us.
Blue Thursday - Friendship Day - 19 November 2009
Regarding the dress code on Friendship Day - Children may come dressed in blue (whatever they wish) but they should avoid hair dye, face paint and masks. Wigs are fine!
With regard to the fun run, please can children bring a change of footwear with them together with a water bottle to take out onto the sports field.
Christmas Shoebox Appeal
This year the school is supporting the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoebox Appeal. Leaflets have been given to all children. Shoeboxes should be delivered to school between November 23rd-25th 2009.
Stranger Danger - Police Advice
The Stamford Mercury recently published an article reporting that a man in a car inappropriately approached two eleven year old girls in Roman Bank. Parents and youngsters are advised to be vigilant and not to approach any unfamiliar vehicles or people.

House Shield Competition
The School Council is running a competion to name the school houses and design house shields to be used on our house badges. Competition deadline - November 6th 2009.
Great New Clubs
A fantastic selection of new clubs will be running from November including Chess Club, Study Club, French Club, Language Club and Film Club. Confirm your interest by November 3rd 2009.
Film Week
As part of the National Schools Film Week, Key Stage 2 children have all been invited to attend a special screening of the film IGOR (Yr 3 & 4) and Tales of Desperaux (Yrs 5 & 6) at Stamford Arts Centre this week.

The school is looking for a caretaker - Immediate start
Open Morning for Reception 2010
The School will be holding an open morning for parents of children starting school in September 2010 on October 13th 2009, 9am-11.30 am.
Admission packs may be collected from the school office or any other Lincolnshire School.
Volunteers needed
We currently have vacancies for swimming and art assistants on Fridays between 8.30am and 11.45pm.
Please leave your name and number with the school office and Mrs Stephens will contact you with further information.
SCHOOL CROSSING
We still require someone to assist with the school crossing just past Dickens Drive. The position is voluntary but full training would be given by the Lincolnshire County Council.
Parents, Teachers and Friends Association AGM
The PTFA are holding their AGM on 17th September at 7:30pm in the KS2 Drama Room.
Swine Flu
The Government guidance is 'No symptom, no problem'. We are being vigilant about the children's health in school but the government guidance is that unless they are showing signs of illness children should be in school.

Summer Fayre - Great Success!
The Summer fayre was a great success raising an enormous £2,300 !!!!!!
Thank you to the PTFA for all their work to make it happen (and tidying up afterwards!) and thanks for all your support on the day.
Einstein’s helpers for Science Week
The school was transformed in Science Week with a great deal of help from Hanson Cement, the volunteers from Cummins Generator Technologies and all the parents who had experiments with their cornflakes every day. Special thanks to.....
TOYOTA IQ COMPETITION
Tia Harrison is the winner!
Year 2 took part in Toyota's competiton to design a Toyota IQ. The overall winner was Tia Harrison and the runner-up was Lauren Whymark. See the gallery for Tia's fantastic design.

Fruit-washing helper needed
Could you help Mrs Seager to wash the childrens' fruit in the morning?

Winners at the Festival were Amy Beechey, Francesca Nicholson, Olivia Longbone, Lily Dwyer and Allys Ceraldi.
Comic Relief - Big Total !!
The grand total raised from our Comic Relief activities was an absolutely amazing £3,304.43

Fly the Flag

Did you know your child can ‘Fly the Flag’ on his/her birthday?
They can hoist the flag at the front of school on the morning of their birthday to raise funds for the School Council projects.
