Fruit Scheme / Healthy Eating

Fruit Scheme

All children aged four to six years old in infant, primary and special schools are entitled to a free piece of fruit or fresh vegetable at school each day.  The fruit is given out at breaktime to ensure that the fruit supplied is additional, not just replacing fruit and vegetables that might have been eaten at lunchtime anyway.

The scheme is part of the national 5 A DAY programme.

Healthy Eating

The School is committed to the Government's Healthy Schools campaign. We try to encourage the children to understand the value of healthy food. We also run a scheme which prohibits sweets, chocolate and fizzy drinks in lunchboxes. Please do not add such items to your child(ren)’s lunch as it is not only not healthy for them, it is also unfair on those children not receiving such items in their lunchboxes.
