School Houses

The school operates a house system. Each child has a badge for their house.

The badges were designed by Francesca Nicholson in a school competition in January 2010.

There are four houses named after owls. In scientific terms owls are known as “Strigiforms”. This includes all owls of which there are about 200 different types. Within this order, owls are split initially into two types; these are the “typical owls” or Strigidae and the “barn owls” or Tytonidae.

Each of these groups has a number of owl types within it. In particular within the typical owl family there are “spectacled owls” or Pulsatrix and a group of Asian / Australasian owls which go by the name Ninox.
