Teacher Training

Thank you for your interest into training.   We are pleased that you are interested in joining the extremely rewarding teaching profession in your local area.

Malcolm Sargent Primary School is a lead school for teacher training, working with Bishop Grosseteste University.  We organise and coordinate placements for the university’s trainee teachers both here, and at other local schools, to fulfil the requirements of multiple school settings and experiences as part of the courses offered.
There are several different teacher training routes on offer at BGU, including full time and part time, post-graduate and undergraduate courses.
If you are interested in becoming a teacher, and training locally, here with us, the next step will be to contact BGU directly to enquire about the process and get full details of the routes available.  BGU will talk to you about the best options available to you, and guide you through the admissions process should you be interested in applying.  Ensure you also let them know that if successful in your admission onto a course, you would like to be placed through Malcolm Sargent Primary School and the Malcolm Sargent ITE Cluster.  Applications would be made via UCAS once you have made your decision to proceed with a teaching career with us. Please contact the admissions team at Bishop Grosseteste University on 01522 583658, or by email at
If you would like further information regarding teaching, and the other routes available into this career, We would be more than happy to meet with you to discuss your options.  Please make an appointment to meet with Mr Cox, our VP, via the school office on 01780 756056.
