Walking Bus

The walking bus is a new initiative in school which started in July 2010.  Parents can use this service to avoid the congestion of the car park area in school by parking in the Danish Invader car park where the bus will begin.

The Walking Bus sets off at 8.30am each morning from the Danish Invader car park. If you miss the bus, you will need to make alternative arrangements for your child. Walking Bus supervisors will be on duty to supervise and organise children into the bus at 8.25am. You may leave your children with the Walking Bus at this time. Children will be organised into approximate age, with the youngest children at the front, to walk in pairs. There will be a Walking Bus supervisor at the front and back of the line, and as many other supervisors along the line as required to ensure children are well cared for. One member of staff from the school will always be part of the Walking Bus group. The bus will travel directly to the school, and drop children into each classroom, starting with the oldest children and finishing with the youngest children.

This service is open for any parent to use on any day they choose.  Parents will need to register their children before they can use the Bus, for insurance purposes.  Forms are available on request from the school office.

The school always needs volunteers to help run this service.  If you are interested in supporting, the times for supervisors are from 8.25am to 8.55am on any day of the working week. Full support and training will be given.  An enhanced CRB disclosure will be required.  Please contact the office for further information.
