Year 1 enjoyed a visit from Mrs Morgan this week, who is one of our experienced volunteer readers, as they started this term’s history topic about childhood in the past. Mrs Morgan was in Year 1 in the 1950s and explained how sweets were rationed for her first few years, and how there was only one TV show a day for children to watch on black and white TV. The most astounding fact was that the toilet was outside; cold to visit in winter!

The children also asked their own questions, such as about whether seatbelts were in cars a long time ago (no). The children did establish that playground games were the only thing which had not changed!
